Housekeeping

On arrival you will be met by myself or my housekeeper of 15 years Marlene Crawford. We will hand you the keys and talk you through the facilities – you will find house notes in the property that will explain how things work.

Dogs

I welcome dogs – one in the Fisherman’s Cottage and two in the Merchant's House. I ask that dogs should have their own bedding and to stay in the downstairs area.

We encourage you to avoid passing urine on the lawn as it burns the grass and takes a long time to recover. Use the watering can or hose to water it in if unavoidable.

Potential flooding

The properties have not flooded in living memory. If advised by SEPA I may have to deploy sandbags at the doorway. I hope this will not inconvenience you too much and it is usually just for a few days whilst the flood warning is in place.

Use of tumble drier

The tumble dryer in the annex may be used if difficult to dry items in the washer dryer. Always remove any lint in the filter before use.

Heating and water

You will find instructions in the property notes. There will be a plentiful supply of hot water but be aware in the Merchant’s House that due to the nature of the heat pump system, it takes a while to come through on the ground and first floors. The top floor operates from an immersion tank so will come through quickly.

Shed

The long shed can take up to two bikes and the sink can also be used. It is also a drying space for wet weather gear. Some fishing gear is available and childrens nets and toys.
