These are some things that inspire me and many visitors

Sunsets

You will not see sunsets from Stromness except on the shortest days in Winter so worth a trip out to the Bay of Skaill or Birsay and the Ring of Brodgar.

Marwick Head

Apart from the incredible sight of nesting birds – a seabird city, the memorial to the seamen who died on HMS Hampshire sunk by a German Mine in June 1916. Is a moving tribute.

Water reflections

On a clear calm sunny day the movement of boats form a wake that comes ashore with an iridescent beautiful light and sounds against the shore

Waves at Yesnaby

Even on a calm day the swell can bring about dramatic waves against the rocks an experience not to be missed.

Walk to Warbeth Cemetery

The walk along the coast from the point of Ness campsite to the Cemetery is a a great walk with the Hoy hills in front of you. The headstones tell lots of stories.

Ferry to Hoy

Take the ferry to Hoy on a fair day and walk to Rackwick bay
